Palestine-24june2014

Sri Lanka has called for implementation of the UNGA Resolutions regarding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to Statehood and the attainment of a two-State solution. Sri Lanka also urged  “ an end to the Gaza blockade and Israel’s settlements in Palestine Occupied Territories and the release of more Palestinian detainees”,  saying it “will help reduce the mistrust and bitterness between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples”.

Sri Lanka’s  Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha made this observation when he intervened in the general debate on Agenda  Item 7 – “Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories” which took place at the 26th Human Rights Council in Geneva today (24 June 2014).
